- Static Tethers have many names, such as “workstation tethers” and “cockpit tethers”. However, they all do the same thing: keep crew attached to a boat in a fixed area. Unlike a regular personal tether that must be attached to an anchor point or jackline, the static tether is a dedicated safety lanyard for a specific area of the boat.
- The area accessible by the tether is defined by the customer. Just determine the length needed and Manu Kea Inc. will fabricate your Static Tether. See this example for determining the length of a Static Tether
- As an example; a Static Tether for the cockpit would allow a sailor to reach predefined areas such as all running rigging, winches, rope clutches, engine controls, lazarettes, etc. Without being able to physically fall overboard Enlarge the posted product photos (in the links below) for an example
- Also for Regatta and racing boats. Need multiple Static Tethers for grinding stations and helm positions? We do that too!
If you have any questions regarding the ordering process, please contact us at: [email protected] for prompt, friendly support! - One of our original products which we have brought back by overwhelming customer demands
- The safety needed for small crews, such as husband/wife teams for night watches in the cockpit
- Allows young adults to begin assisting with watches with maximum safety!
- Prevents Man Overboard (MOB) situations due to rogue waves, sudden movements of the boat, slips and falls due to wet decks
- Quiet. Our anchoring end uses a soft shackle approach. As the eyelet and webbing have no metallic fastener the Static Tether is very quiet during night operations
- Economic. A customized solution that is less expensive than a commercial tether
- The overall length of the Static Tether is defined by the customer
- The Kong and Wichard snap shackles both have a rated minimum breaking strength (MBS) of 4,400-lb
- The 1-inch webbing is made in the USA with a minimum breaking strength of 9,800-lb
- Webbing is available in a charcoal, silver or yellow color. They are very contrasting colors for decks of boats, thus making the webbing easy to see
Note: the yellow webbing is not available with edge guard. However, it is rated for 9,800-lb. MBS.- Overall system has a one (1) year limited warranty
- Kong USA offers a three (3) year limited warranty on their hardware
- Wichard America offers a five (5) year limited warranty on their hardware
